Welcome to KDL, the successful Cornish language distance learning course.
The purpose of KDL is to help people to learn Cornish even if they are unable to attend classes. All are most welcome to enrol. KDL aims to prepare students to understand spoken and written Cornish and to be able to read and write it.
KDL started in 1983 as Kernewek Dre Lyther (Cornish By Letter) and has taught hundreds of students, who are studying for many reasons. Some wish to take exams to mark their progress and we prepare students for the four grades of examinations of the Cornish Language Board. Many KDL students have been successful in one or more of the Board's examinations. Fifty of them have reached the highest grade and have been made Bards of the Cornish Gorsedh. Most students achieve distinctions in their grades.
Everyone is welcome to make use of the course material, but only enrolled students have access to the support of KDL's expert language teachers. For a fee of £20 for each grade, KDL provide an experienced tutor, who is fluent in the Cornish language, to help you with the lessons.
